This cardigan was on my needles for many of this year’s World Cup games. Watching Argentina and the United States compete inspired this design (two of the three countries that shape who I am; Italy didn’t make it to the tournament this year). Rooting for these countries brought back family memories that I started sharing with my son: familiar phrases in Spanish, dinners with family and stories I’d heard a hundred times. I hope you’ll knit one for yourself, and while you do, think about the pieces of your own history that make you, you. Knit in Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton DK, this airy, lightweight cardigan is the perfect layering piece for spring and summer months.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

Knitting Needles
Size 6 (4 mm) 32” - 40” circular knitting needles
Size 6 (4 mm) 16” circular knitting needles (or DPNs for working sleeves)
Extra Size 6 (4 mm) (or similar size) knitting needles (for three needle bind off)

4 in x 4 in / 10 cm x 10 cm; 18 sts x 26 rows in repeating lace pattern after wet blocking
